A historic Parador. The usual good service at a Parador and a good location.
In general Paradors need to update the room facilities a little. In our experience the beds are often hard. However, updating has to be balanced with the history of most Paradors.

Good location for our journey with a pleasant atmosphere
The directional signs where poor and it took us a long time to find the entrance

Couple with excellent views
The converted castle offers fine views over the river, and the room was really good, comfy bed and a nice sitting area by the window! Cute staff, even suggesting an excellent local cheese and charcuterie for our evening.
It wasn't cheap, but for the experience, still acceptable.

I visited Ciudad Rodrigo for the 200th Anniversary of the storming of the border fortress town during the Napoleonic War. I had previously stayed at the Parador in Oropesa and enjoyed the experience. The staff and facilities provided at Ciudad Rodrigo were excellent, there is no other word to describe it, they really made me feel welcome and added greatly to the enjoyment of the visit. I most certainly will return.

Lovely hotel in a great location. Set high above the river below. Must see the hidden garden here and walk around the ramparts to loom over the local countryside and see the stork nests! Charming parador and very comfortable.
The evening meal was expensive and not particularly good, which is a shame as they were advertising a new menu with local food so we gave it a try. Go out for dinner.

Atmospheric. Stunning views from the keep and garden. Regional specialities for breakfast. Cheerful and helpful staff.
A few more signs to the hotel would be helpful from the main road.
